Old London Street Cries

Crawhall contributed a frontispiece and a few other cuts at Andrew Tuer’s request to a small Field & Tuer publication called Old London Street Cries, a tribute to the by then all-but disappeared street peddlars of London. All copies of this edition feature the frontispiece hand watercoloured, and as the paper has remained generally bright it serves as a good example of the impact of Crawhall’s colouring, which utilises bold (often primary), bright colours akin to stained glass and most unlike traditional watercolour.
